Therapeutic Bowen

the header banner for Therapeutic Bowen's website Service Provided:  Logo Design / Website Design Thereapeutic Bowen's Logo

We focused on building the logo first and after a few different designs settled on the current final version. This also allowed us to design the website's header / navigation section around the logo, and from there the site pretty much designed itself.

About the Therapeutic Bowen Logo

The client was very happy with the finished design and colour of the logo. She felt the blue colours offered a cool, calm feeling and had a vibrant energy about it, which was very much in keeping with the Bowen Technique. The design's core shape is based around a pair of hands in a traditional Bowen formation, again tying back to the client's brief. The hands are the Bowen practitioner's most important tool, so it was very logical that we tried to utilise them in the design. We encapsulated the design in an oval to suggest roundness and completeness, again hinting at the range and versatility of Bowen for holistic treatment.

About the Therapeutic Bowen Website

A Therapeutic Bowen web-page made to high standard XHTML compliance using CSS

Once we had Therapeutic Bowen's logo down, it was actually quite straight-forward to build the website around it. First of all we created a banner to seat the logo on. In order to allow the logo to stand out and have some impact we set it on a blue gradient with the provocative text - "Unleash The Healing Power Of Bowen In Your Life". For the main body of the site we used a simple clean, light-coloured blue background that wouldn't hurt the eyes and allowed for easy reading of the text.

All the text and research material was provided by the client, but we obviously had to style it to XHTML Strict 1.0 compliance. For this we employed CSS and a logical usage of XHTML tags. This also helped us separate the content from the presentation and enabled us to create a site we could easily update in the future. We deliberately kept the site simple.

The navigation for the site was done using fly-out menus styled with CSS. The site was tested in the latest three browsers at the time, and any quirks sorted out.

Therapeutic Bowen still retain our services for updating and marketing their site as well as producing flash-based advertising.

Always Hang Ten's Banner Design

www.alwayshangten.com is still currently under construction with Aztec Dreamer. As it is part of our pro-bono work, it is not being rushed. However for a free-of-charge production we feel this site highlights our huge work ethic and attention to detail in how we put exhaustive effort into producing great graphics. We were especially keen to produce a banner that could somehow pick up where the logo left off and continue on the theme of adventure and excitement, capturing all the nuances that make up what we believe 'always hanging ten' is about. We think we've absolutely nailed this one. So if you want graphics like these, you know where to come. Watch this space for finished website, coming soon.

the SLF's badge and some shrooms - one of the most iconic images we've seen in a long time.

The SLF sent us this image shortly after their logo was made - they're thinking of putting it on postcards. We think it's an extremely iconic image bringing amazing design to the cutting-edge frontline of drugs reform. One thing's for sure - it definitely sends out a message.

This small organisation with a big heart and a big message approached Aztec Dreamer to build them a logo, and full corporate branding for their cause. We sat down with the SLF's representatives as they explained their vision for their organisation and what exactly they stood for. It was fascinating stuff and Aztec Dreamer felt immediately drawn to their quest to create an enterprise worthy of these visions. They were particularly interested in emphasizing the magical nature of their subject matter, and wanted their website to allow colours to dazzle. They also wanted a logo to sum up and respect the complex intricacies and sensitivities of their cause. They wanted to challenge without offending. Considering the subject matter, this was a delicate balance that was very difficult to achieve. We knew it, and so did they. We like a challenge and so we took them on.

The SLF Logo (Aztec Dreamer style)

The logo for the Shroom Liberation Front - one of Aztec Dreamer's finest logos

This logo was one of the most complex we've ever undertaken. There was so many factors involved in symbolising the SLF's cause that it took literally hundreds of sketches and brain-storming sessions before we eventually hit upon the final approved design. And when we did we realised we'd created an iconic symbol of the SLF's struggle. We were all delighted. So much so, the SLF created their logo into a sew-on badge that sells well and helps pay their administration costs.

The SLF Website

We built the site with Dreamweaver to XHTML Strict 1.0 compliance. We used CSS throughout. We spent a little while creating the header which needed to have impact and get the message across immediately. It also needed to allow the logo to stand out. We then thought carefully about the body colour. We decided to give it a cool dark blue gradient with a subtle pinstripe effect. The colour had many benefits as it was dark and bright at the same time allowing all other bright colours around it to dazzle and stand out. It also appeared serious and intelligent.

Sidebars were added using CSS negative margins, allowing us to keep the important content at the top and the not-so-important sidebar content at the bottom of the page, therefore improving page rank / google bot performance. We faced a lot of technical issues with the site and had numerous browser compatibility issues. This site has two ie7 specific style sheets, which we've never heard anyone using before. We also did all their flash banner adverts and graphics in the site. The SLF provided us with all the text and photo material.

a page from the Shroom Liberation Front's graphically rich website the Shroom Liberation Front is a movement that is growing every year a webpage from the Shroom Liberation Front

Since the re branding of the SLF's site, their viewing figures have shot up and should be growing gradually every month. They were surprised to find out that over 70% of the viewers come from the United States, meaning that the SLF's message is reaching a truly global audience.

A fun logo for a 13 year old boy, into skateboarding, gaming and flying remote control planes

The above logo was designed for my nephew who wanted something to represent his interests and hobbies  ( mainly gaming, skateboarding and flying remote control planes - oh and playing the guitar too). And he also requested a palm tree. He lives in Spain. I was initially overwhelmed by the richness of possibility for this design and it was hard work to tie it altogether in a fun way. However I think you'll agree the end result is a fun cool design, perfect for a teenager. We are now working on a website for the design to go on - coming soon.

a logo for a person with the initials MWS

I also decided to build my nephew an additional logo based around his initials - MWS. This design you see here was just a simple, fun idea, that though not specifically requested will look good in a range of colours and can be used for future projects.
